How Can DSWCD Help? 

The Deschutes Soil and Water Conservation District (DSWCD) provides free technical assistance, education, and financial assistance to support Deschutes County residents and landowners.

DSWCD is a local, non-regulatory conservation district that works with landowners, farmers, and the community to protect and improve natural resources. 

Water Conservation & Irrigation Efficiency

  • On-farm irrigation improvements and efficiency upgrades
  • Technical assistance grants (often tied to NRCS/NACD programs)
  • Identification and improvement of inefficient private laterals

2. Forest Health & Juniper Reduction

  • Cost-share programs to remove invasive juniper and restore rangeland
  • Projects aimed at reducing wildfire risk and improving watershed function

3. Agricultural Support Programs

  • Pasture Exchange Program (connects landowners and livestock producers)
  • Manure Exchange Program (redistributes nutrients to improve soil health)

4. Grants & Cost-Share Funding

  • Small grants for:
