2026 Fall Election
There will be an election November 10, 2026 for Divisions 2, 4, and 5.
Petitions will be available for pickup on Thursday, August 27, 2026, and are due Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
The term of office for Divisions 2 and 5 will be for three years, beginning January 12, 2027 and ending January 7, 2030.
The term of office for Division 4 will be for one year, completing the current term for that division, beginning January 12, 2027 and ending January 10, 2028.
The incumbents may apply for an additional term, and any qualified elector from one of these divisions may run for the position in the division they reside in. If you wish to run for this position, you may pick up a petition and a list of qualified electors at the District office on or after Thursday, August 27, 2026. Completed petitions must be received in the District office by 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 6, 2026. (ORS 545.137). Petitions must have at least ten signatures of qualified electors (ORS 545.041). If more than one candidate applies, an election will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2026. The election will be held by mail-in ballot (ORS 545.163). Ballots will be mailed between October 21, 2026 and October 27, 2026.
Qualifications of directors (ORS 545.043):
- The Person must be a resident of the State of Oregon.
- The Person must be a bona fide owner, or a shareholder of a bona fide corporate owner, of land situated in the division they are nominated for.
To make our elections as secure as possible, we are asking that you verify that you have a signed voter registration card on file with the District. This card will be kept on file in this office, to be used as a comparison of signatures when mail-in ballots are received. If it is necessary to have an election this year, we must have the cards on file prior to the election, and in order to have a ballot mailed to you we must have your registration on file before October 21, 2026. We appreciate your help in ensuring the integrity of our elections.
The qualifications for an elector (545.002):
- 18 years of age or older.
- Own land within the District or be a vendee under a Contract of Sale for the purchase of land within the District.
- Subject to the charges or assessments of the District.
These are the same qualifications required to sign a petition supporting a candidate.
Voting rights (ORS 545.007):
- Where land is held in multiple ownership, such as husband and wife or in a trust, only one party may vote.
- In the case of a Corporation, Partnership, or Limited Liability Company only one vote shall be allowed on behalf of all the owners under the multiple ownership. The vote may be cast by any one of the multiple owners who holds an authorization in writing from the other owners (Voter Authorization Form).
- If an elector is an owner in two or more divisions of residence and resides in one of them, the elector shall vote in the division of residence, but if an elector is a nonresident of the District, the elector may choose to vote in any one division in which the elector is an owner. When a nonresident landowner chooses to vote in any one division, the landowner shall file a notice of choice of voting division with the Secretary of the Board of the District. A nonresident landowner's choice to vote in a certain division is permanent and remains permanent until the nonresident landowner's ownership status changes in any way (Nonresident Election to Vote in Division Form).
- If you are required to submit either of these forms, and do not already have one on file in this office, please call us as soon as possible.
- State law provides for the following number of votes:
- One vote for up to 40 acres;
- Two votes for more than 40 acres and up to 160 acres; and
- Three votes for more than 160 acres.
A person wishing to run for director should be able to attend as many of the monthly meetings as possible. The Board generally meets the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00 A.M. at the District office.
